Many things separate the Mountain Biking Capital of The World™ from other popular cycling destinations, weather being one of them. With little snow and mild ice conditions during the winter, cyclists are able to ride 12 months out of the year in Northwest Arkansas. As the winter season quickly approaches, cyclists across the country are gearing up for indoor training or fat tire biking. In Northwest Arkansas, however, we’re not ready to say goodbye to our daily rides.
Pro rider Payson McElveen invites ambitious cyclists to ride all of Bentonville and Bella Vista’s trails on their own time. While you are more than welcome to, you do not have to complete the course all in one day.
At the end of the year, two winners will be selected to take home a $1,500 shopping spree at Osprey Packs, a three-year supply of Orange Seal tire sealant, a Smith Trace helmet and Shift Mag glasses, Hammerhead Karoo 2 bike computer, GU Energy ride food, and a $100 gift card to The HUB Bike Lounge in Bentonville, Arkansas.
With three OZ Trails systems, The Back 40, Blowing Springs Park, and Little Sugar, there is plenty of adventure in Bella Vista. The city’s name, Bella Vista, means “beautiful view” in Spanish. Which, if you have ever visited, rings true for its 36,000-acres of land. New sights available to visit on the trails in Bella Vista include Bella Insta, Blowing Springs Gear Garden, and Clank.
Arkansas native Josh Fohner made an impact in the OZ Trails community in June when he rode from Buena Vista, Colo., to Springdale, Ark., in the All in Tour. The All in Tour was created to raise funds to support Josh’s recovery. A team of Josh’s family, friends, and community guided and rode beside Josh on his journey home.
